Mucilage mainly composed of arabinose, xylose, galacturonic acid, semi drying fatty oil and small amount of aucubin. Seed has property of mucilage formation on extraction of moisture. Psyllium seeds are cooling, laxative, soothing, antiacidic, anti diuretic and demulcent.
